OF Tim Tebow was among several players cut from the Mets' major league camp on Tuesday.
RHP Kevin McGowan, RHP Gerson Bautista, RHP Marcos Molina, RHP Jamie Callahan and RHP Corey Oswalt were also cut from the big league squad.
The 30-year-old Tebow, who was reassigned to minor league camp, had just one hit in spring training and finished with a .056 batting average through 18 at-bats.
"It's not like it's a shock," Tebow said after he learned he was cut. "They were super honest the whole time. We have great relationships and conversations. It's not like, oh my gosh. So it's all good."
Tebow still could play with the major league squad on Wednesday when the team travels to Jupiter to face the Marlins, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post.
Tebow split time between Single-A Columbus and Single-A St. Lucie last season, hitting .226 with eight homers and 52 RBIs.
