The Triple-A Syracuse Mets have announced their Opening Day roster, and as expected, Tim Tebow is officially on it.
Tebow will continue his unlikely quest toward reaching the majors with the Mets' new Triple-A affiliate after playing 84 games with Double-A Binghamton last season. The 31-year-old former quarterback went 4-for-15 in Spring Training with one RBI and one walk.
He's among several familiar names on the squad. Carlos Gomez, Rajai Davis, and Gregor Blanco are in an outfield which includes Tebow and Rymer Liriano.
Rene Rivera, who was recently brought back on a minor-league deal for veteran depth because Devin Mesoraco is set to retire, is joined by Colton Plaia behind the plate.
The infield consists of Adeiny Hechavarria, Danny Espinosa, Dilson Herrera, David Thompson and Travis Taijeron.
Hector Santiago headlines the pitching staff after losing out on a spot on the big-league roster. Tyler Bashlor, Chris Flexen, Drew Gagnon, Eric Hanhold, Corey Oswalt, Jacob Rhame, Paul Sewald, and Daniel Zamora are all on the 40-man roster. The pitching staff also includes Arquimedes Caminero, Casey Coleman, Ryan O'Rourke and Corey Taylor.
