That whole thing where Tom Brady tried to copyright Mets legend Tom Seaver's "Tom Terrific" nickname? It was all a big misunderstanding, according to Brady.
Speaking on Thursday, Brady said he doesn't like the 'Tom Terrific' nickname some have given him, so he was trying to copyright it in order to prevent other people from using it.
"Lesson learned," Brady said, according to Albert Breer of MMQB.
On Monday, after news of Brady's attempt to copyright Seaver's nickname broke, Mets fans planned to gather at Upper East Side restaurant Sojourn for a "Boston T.B." Party, where they planned to dump jerseys and memorabilia of Brady into garbage bags filled with beans.
Seaver, 74, suffers from dementia and retired from public life earlier this year. The Mets will unveil a plan to build a Seaver statue at Citi Field at the end of the month when they honor the 1969 World Series championship team the weekend of June 28-30.
