Collins said d'Arnaud will remain in a boot and miss about eight weeks.
D'Arnaud was hit on the foot by a foul ball during the sixth inning of the Las Vegas 51s 3-2 win over Sacramento on Wednesday night. He visited with doctors at the Hospital for Special Surgery today in Manhattan to determine the extent of the break.
D’Arnaud is hitting .250 with five doubles, one home run and eight RBI in 36 at-bats this season.
This is probably the best case scenario to come out of this situation. It's still a setback - there was a distinct possibility d'Arnaud could have arrived to the big leagues in eight weeks or so. Now, I would expect him to go back to the minors, get his feet under him for a bit, and continue working his way to the big leagues. There's no telling if d'Arnaud will be promoted to the Major Leagues this season, but there should still be time for him, should he get back from this and be comfortable at Triple-A.
