The Mets have called up RHP Rafael Montero from Triple-A Las Vegas. To make room on the roster, IF/OF Eric Campbell was demoted to Triple-A.
Terry Collins said Monday that the team might bring someone up from Triple-A since his bullpen logged 12 innings in the last two games.
Logan Verrett, who had been working in the bullpen, is scheduled to start in place of Jacob deGrom on Wednesday. DeGrom initially had his next start skipped due to a lat strain and is now in Florida with his wife, who gave birth to their first child, Jaxon, on Monday night.
Collins said earlier on Tuesday that the roster move with Montero may hinge on what the team decides to do with deGrom, but the team has not yet placed him on the disabled list or paternity leave.
According to Collins, the Mets would rather avoid putting deGrom on paternity leave so they're able to put him on the disabled list (lat strain) retro-active to his last start if they so choose.
