The 21-year-old Plawecki was drafted by the Mets in the supplimental round of this year's draft using the 35th overall pick, which was compensation for losing Jose Reyes as a free agent to the Marlins.

He was voted Big Ten Player of the Year in 2012, during which he hit .359 with 20 doubles, four triples, seven home runs and 47 RBI in 223 at-bats in 2012.
