Brandon Nimmo was asked before Monday's in-game interview with SNY's Steve Gelbs if he wanted to talk about chicken or baseball. And while Nimmo would rather talk baseball, the chicken story had to come to a fitting end.
"I'd rather talk about baseball," Nimmo said. "But I think I got vindicated on the chicken."
Nimmo, who fell ill after making chicken last week (he was so proud of it that he sent a photo to his wife, Chelsea), was initially thought to have suffered a self-inflicted bout with food poisoning.
However, it was later proven that Nimmo actually had a virus. He knows how to cook chicken properly. And he's happy about it.
"I feel like I finally got my due because everybody was hating on my chicken skills," Nimmo said. "And so, to be able to -- after that -- bel like, 'okay, it's not my cooking. I can feel safe about cooking chicken again.' I feel a lot better about things knowing that it's a virus."
Shortly after the chicken vindication portion of the interview, Nimmo decided to (again) take over play-by-play duties as Michael Conforto was robbed (again).
