Coming back from the All-Star break, the Mets began their second half with a Subway Series rematch with the Yankees, this time on the road.
But an even bigger story was the return of Yoenis Cespedes to the lineup. And he returned with a bang.
After flying out in his first at-bat, Cespedes hit a high fly ball to left field that slammed off the foul pole for a solo homer to make it 4-1 Mets in the top of the third.
The Mets got on the board first to begin the game, and 2B Asdrubal Cabrera was the one to start the three-run innings. He stayed on a 1-2 curveball and laced it down the right-field line to score Brandon Nimmo.
Michael Conforto added an RBI double himself to score Cabrera two batters later.
