Scott Boras is a household name when it comes to top agents in the MLB. And during his time with CAA, Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen was another big-time agent in the league.
But, to everyone's surprise at the GM Meetings in Carlsbad, CA, Boras said he has never once spoken to Van Wagenen.

Boras explained that it had nothing to do with his competition with Van Wagenen, but due to issues he has had in the past, he has made it a point not to converse with any agents.
"I don't make it a practice to talk to agents because of past issues, so i literally say hi and goodbye," he said. "But I've never had a conversation."
To make matters even more confusing, Van Wagenen told the media during his scrum that he had just spoke with Boras today in what he called "a productive discussion about the Mets."
"The agent world is really competitive and so we had not had any real interaction in the past," he said. "I did get a chance to meet with [Scott Boras] out here and we had a productive discussion about the Mets, what we're looking to do, and some of the players he has in his stable, including Michael Conforto... We met this afternoon."
In his new role, Van Wagenen will likely cross paths with Boras -- and vice versa -- when it comes to certain players around the league. Boras made note that he would "happily" reach out to Van Wagenen and the Mets if need be.
"I always reach out to players if my clients are interested in any team at any time, and would happily do that," Boras said.
