The GM Meetings begin today in Carlsbad, CA, and continue through Nov. 7.
Typically, during the day, GMs and their staff spend more time discussing business about the game.
However, in addition to conferences and meetings about league issues, the GM Meetings are used for teams to meet, talk about agendas, player values, offseason plans and learn who plans to do what and who may be available as everyone looks to improve their position through the offseason...
In the past, November was used mostly for research, with actual deals happening during or after the Winter Meetings in early December.
The last five years, though, a bevy of activity has gone down during November. We could see the same again this year, especially in trades, as teams look to stake their claim before having to overspend on free agents.
In other words, buckle up, because this is usually where we begin getting hit with a lot of random trade rumors, some of which make sense, some of which do not.
It seems every year the rumor mill gets more vague and more frequent, as reporters, radio hosts, columnists and insiders tweet fast and furious and often blur the line between fact, suggestion, and opinion.
