"When he came up, people doubted his behind-the-plate skills, but I think he was awesome," Wheeler said of d'Arnaud. "I love throwing to him. He receives the ball tremendously well, he can make a border-line ball look like a strike. I think he's been so concentrated on calling the game, he got caught up and maybe only had a few good at bats. I think next year he's going to catch fire and take off."
D'Arnaud struggled at the plate in 2013, hitting just .202 with a .286 OBP, 4 extra base hits and 5 RBI in 112 plate appearances.
