Now Commenting On:

Jacob deGrom, 25, is 4-0 with a 2.58 ERA in seven Triple-A starts this season.

He will pitch in relief starting Tuesday. However, in 58 career minor league appearances, he has only been a starting pitcher. He occasionally pitched in relief for the Mets during Spring Training.

DeGrom was ranked this past winter by Baseball America as the organization's third best pitching prospect behind Noah Syndergaard and Rafael Montero.

According to a variety of scouting reports, his low-to-mid 90s fastball is complimented by a sinker and occasional slider and a change-up.

He was selected by the Mets in the ninth round of the 2010 draft, quickly had Tommy John surgery and missed all of 2011. He moved from Single-A to Triple-A last season and was later added to the 40-man roster, which prompted his invite to Spring Training this past off season.
