Last Friday, the Mets announced signed free-agent C Landon Powell to a minor league contract with an invite to Spring Training.

Powell, 30, did not play in the Major Leagues in 2012. In three years with the A’s from 2009-2011, Powell hit .207 in 123 games.

In 79 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City last season, Powell hit .251 with a .353 OBP and .729 SLG, eight home runs and 38 RBI in 279 plate appearances.
