Devin Mesoraco provided a game-tying home run in the eighth inning and Wilmer Flores hit a walk-off sacrifice fly in the ninth to lift the Mets to a 5-4 come-from-behind win over the Diamondbacks on Saturday night at Citi Field.
Things you should know about tonight's game...
1) Michael Conforto stayed hot with a two-run home run in the second inning to put the Mets on the board. The Mets' offense would not record another hit until Jay Bruce's single in the sixth inning, and the team struggled with runners in scoring position throughout most of the game.
2) The Mets' offense showed some life in the eighth inning when Bruce singled for the second time and Mesoraco's two-run homer tied the game at 4-4. Mesoraco's homer was hit his third home run since joining the Mets earlier this month.
3) Brandon Nimmo got the Mets started in the ninth inning with a leadoff double and Asdrubal Cabrera laid down a perfect bunt down the third base line to put two runners on for Flores. Flores lifted a deep fly ball to left field, allowing Nimmo to tag and score for the walk-off win.
4) LHP Steven Matz allowed a season-high four runs in four innings before the Mets' bullpen kept the Diamondbacks in check. Seth Lugo, Paul Sewald, AJ Ramos, and Jeurys Familia combined to pitch five scoreless innings, and Familia earned his second win of the season.
