Now Commenting On:

David Wright is not going to say the Mets will win 90 games, but he does think it's a good goal, he told ESPN Radio (, Mar. 6).

"I've never gone in to a season and said, 'Ya know what, I just want to be average.' That's not in my personality and it should not be in any one's personality that is here," he said. "I think 90 wins is attainable. I think 90 is a good starting point, as far as saying, 'Hey, this is what is expected of us.'"

Wright said this is the first year he's made an effort to watch some of the more highly-touted prospects on backfields and B-games, to see if they're worth the hype.

"They are," he said. "These young power arms we have are special and it's going to be fun to continue to watch them develop."

Wright said he's been getting good, productive work in this week during intrasquad games and practice, and he's ready to get in to a Grapefruit League on Friday or Saturday.
