Now Commenting On:

Zack Wheeler struck out 10 batters and let up one run Friday, but the one run was scored by the Marlins in the fifth inning.

"I was thinking, 'Man, it’s always the fifth that comes up and bites me,'" Wheeler said after the game (ESPN, Apr. 25).

In five starts this season, Wheeler has allowed 13 runs, nine of which crossed home plate during his fifth inning on the mound.

He wriggled through two runners on base in the sixth inning to end his night.

"You've got to make big pitches at certain points during the game," he added. "That’s what I did."
