Wheeler allowed two hits and a run in the first inning, and proceeded to retire 14 of the next 15 hitters he faced.
In his first two starts at Triple-A, Wheeler has allowed two runs and five hits with seven walks and 11 strikeouts in 10 2/3 innings - overall, he's 10-6 with a 3.20 ERA with 50 walks and 128 strikeouts in 126 2/3 innings over 21 starts between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Buffalo.
In July, Sandy Alderson said Wheeler had a limit of 150 innings, at which point he will be shutdown for the year.
Alderson also said Wheeler will not be in the Major Leagues in 2012.
