Mets RHP Zack Wheeler told WOR on Thursday that he's been keeping quiet, sticking to his rehab and ready to help the Mets during the second half of 2016 >> Listen here.
"Everything is going well," Wheeler said. "I"m feeling nice and strong and looking forward to getting back out there to the competition."
He has repeatedly said he expects to return to the big-league rotation in late June or early July.
Wheeler is 18-16 with a 3.50 ERA and 1.33 WHIP while striking out 271 batters in 49 starts (285 1/3 innings) in two years during his major league career.
"I knew we had the potential to get to the World Series," Wheeler said, about his expectations a year ago. "I'm looking forward to getting back on the field with these guys and being part of something special in New York. It's electric up there and that's what I'm looking forward to, and winning some ball games."
