Wheeler threw 97 pitches, 61 of which were strikes.
Wheeler did not allow a walk during his outing but did allow a home run - he now has a 3.86 ERA with six walks and 17 hits with 17 strikeouts in 14 innings over three starts.
I'm not going to get too caught up in the number of runs Wheeler allows in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, so long as he shows command of all of his pitches and has the right approach and execution. Today, Wheeler showed that command and had a pretty good rhythm throughout the afternoon. After two starts in which his command was absent, this was a step in the right direction for him. He now needs to show similar fluidity over a few more starts before a discussion about a possible promotion can take place.
