NEW YORK -- On Tuesday, the Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets capitalized on opponents not giving proper effort and emerged with wins over elite competition.

Both teams will attempt to follow up those impressive victories when the Bucks visit the Nets on Thursday.

Milwaukee has won three of four games since a three-point home loss to the Golden State Warriors on Nov. 19. The third victory in that stretch was Tuesday's 118-101 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

For the second straight season, the Milwaukee Bucks laid an egg opening the season in front of their home fans, falling 107-96 to the Charlotte Hornets. The problems that plagued Milwaukee in its opener are the same that tortured the Bucks last season: an inability to make 3-pointers and lengthy defensive lapses that allowed opponents to build double-digit leads.Milwaukee made just 3 of 16 3-point attempts and Charlotte shot 45 percent from the field and outrebounded the Bucks 51-46.

NBA stars Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks and Kristaps Porzingis of the New York Knicks battled it out in Athens in a game of streetball Sunday, watched by a crowd of 5,000.

Played in an open court in Greece's largest public high school, the "Antetokounbros Streetball Event" ended 123-123. No overtime was played.

Porzingis scored 21 points but was overshadowed by team member Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Giannis' older brother, who scored 69. The two had played for a few games together last season, when Thanasis was signed by the Knicks on a 10-day contract. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the other team with 64 points. The other players were a mixture of veteran pros and amateurs.

Giannis Antetokounmpo had 28 points, 14 assists and 11 rebounds, nearly getting his fourth triple-double in the last 11 games by halftime, and the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Brooklyn Nets 109-100 on Sunday night.

Antetokounmpo already had 12 points, nine assists and eight rebounds by the half on his way to becoming the first Bucks player with four triple-doubles in a season. All of them have come since Feb. 22.

Jabari Parker added 23 points, and Khris Middleton had 19 points to help the Bucks win their third straight game.

Brook Lopez scored 20 points for the Nets, who dropped their fourth in a row. Sean Kilpatrick added 19 in his first home game with the Nets after they returned from a franchise-record, nine-game trip. >> Read more

NEW YORK (AP) -- Carmelo Anthony had 24 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, Kristaps Porzingis had a few more highlight plays during New York's high-flying third quarter, and the Knicks beat the Milwaukee Bucks 100-88 on Sunday night.

The Knicks broke it open in the third by outshooting and outdunking one of the NBA's most athletic teams. Porzingis was at the forefront, with a sensational follow dunk on one end and a blocked shot on the other as the Knicks began pouring it on in the middle of the period.

He had 15 points for the Knicks, who won for the fourth time in five games. He hit a deep 3-pointer in the third, but his putback dunk, when the 7-foot-3 rookie's arm seemed to reach up from one side of the rim and dunk it from the other, stood out.

Greg Monroe had 28 points and 10 rebounds for the Bucks, and Khris Middleton added 20. They have lost three of four. >> Read more...

Tonight at the Barclays Center, the 9-19 Nets host the 6-22 Milwaukee Bucks in a virtual must-win game for Brooklyn. In the midst of a four-game losing streak, with three straight games against NBA title contenders on the immediate horizon, the time to snap this recent slide is right now.

The last time these two teams met, the Nets won 90-82 back on December 7 in Milwaukee, and it ignited a three-game win streak at the time. Even though Brooklyn's since lost their best player, if they can't win this game, at home, against the worst team in the NBA... You get the picture. It won't be pretty.

Without Lopez, the Nets' big men have a lot on their plate. It won't get much easier tonight, as the Bucks are expected to get center Larry Sanders back from injury.

Tonight, the 5-14 Nets are on the road again for a matchup with the 4-15 Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks enter tonight in the Eastern Conference basement, and the Nets would be in danger of falling into a last-place tie with a loss.

The Nets have lost 12 of their last 15, and quite frankly, it's not going to get any easier than this as far as road games go. It's a virtual must-win for Brooklyn against a team ranked dead last in Offensive Rating at 94.4 points per 100 possessions, and second to last in the NBA in both points per game and rebounds per game this season.

Additionally, this will be the second game of a back-to-back for Milwaukee, who won an overtime game last night and might have some tired legs tonight. The Bucks are 18th in three-point attempts, but tied for ninth in three-point percentage, so the Nets will have to be aware of that and try to force them to take shots from inside the arc.
