NEW YORK ? After the Nets lost to the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night, Brook Lopez was just as silent as he was during the game's fourth quarter.

And that's bad, because he spent the entire fourth quarter on the bench.

NEW YORK ? The good news is that Joe Johnson's "sore heel" isn't believed to be serious. The bad news is that even if he's able to play on it, it is something that may linger for the rest of the season.

Hello, Deron Williams.

HOUSTON ? Commissioner David Stern makes an annual address to the NBA media each year at All-Star Weekend. This year was no exception.

After fielding numerous questions about the Sacramento Kings potential move to Seattle, deputy commissioner Adam Silver made some very interesting comments regarding the All-Star Weekend's return to New York City.

HOUSTON ? As great as Brook Lopez has played for the Brooklyn Nets this season, he's continued to impress with his attitude and demeanor. Most NBA players say the right things; few actually mean them.

Lopez, for sure, is amongst those exceptions.

On Friday night, the Nets were defeated by the Memphis Grizzlies by a final score of 101-77.

The Skinny: Marc Gasol and Brook Lopez each came out and set the tone for their respective teams. Gasol scored eight of the Grizzlies first ten points and totaled 12 points in the opening period. He was mainly responsible for the Grizzlies 32-22 lead after one. Lopez scored nine of the Nets first 13 points and was the only Nets to make more than one field goal in the quarter. Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and Gerald Wallace combined to shoot just 2-for-6 in the opening period. The Grizzlies led by as many as 15 points before a couple of late buckets by Andray Blatche and Keith Bogans helped to cut the lead to 10.

Both teams opened up the quarter with four bench players led by one starter. The Nets second unit of C.J. Watson, Keith Bogans, Andray Blatche and Kris Humphries were joined by Johnson and played with good energy but allowed the Grizzlies second chance opportunities and couldn't rebound the ball. At one point, the Grizzlies were outrebounding the Nets 20-9. Led by Jerryd Bayless in the second quarter, the Grizzlies used a 15-5 run to push their lead over the Nets to as many as 16, 49-33. The Nets brought Lopez and Williams back in for the second half of the quarter, but the Grizzlies outscored the Nets 18-11 over the final six minutes of the half and brought a 67-44 lead to the locker room.

NEW YORK ? There are many things that can be said about the Brooklyn Nets and their recent winning streak. Brook Lopez's emergence as one of the best centers in the conference, the developing chemistry of the Big 3 and the team's ability to win back-to-back games in decisive fashion, even without Gerald Wallace.

On Tuesday night, the Nets defeated the Toronto Raptors by a final score of 113-106, despite being outrebounded, 41-34. There are a bunch of stats that can explain why the Nets were able to overcome that and win, sure. None is bigger than the fact that the team committed just six total turnovers.

NEW YORK ? Actions speak louder than words and on Wednesday night in a 100-86 loss to the New York Knicks, the Brooklyn Nets looked like a team that quit.

But afterward, no player would point to the gameplan or lack of preparation for the dispirited second half effort, they blamed themselves.

NEW YORK ? If you attend a Nets practice or otherwise catch members of the team in conversation, you'll rarely hear anyone refer to Gerald Wallace by his real name.

He has affectionately become known as "Crash," mainly because of the reckless way with which he plays the game.

NEW YORK ? After losing four straight home games, the Brooklyn Nets were desperate for a win on Friday night at Barclays Center, and it showed.

Before tip-off, he spoke with the media about his current condition and when he may return.

The Skinny:?The Nets opened up the game on fire, hitting five of its first seven shots and quickly opening up an 11-2 lead after the game's first three minutes. The Nets suddenly went cold, though. After an early timeout, the Nets combined to shoot just 1-for-15 over the game's next seven minutes. Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings combined for 15 points in the opening frame and helped the Bucks to a 25-18 lead after the first quarter.

The Bucks attacked the basket and the Nets clearly missed Brook Lopez's presence at the rim. ?The Bucks won the second quarter 19-13 and, behind 18 points from Jennings and 10 points from Ellis, the Bucks led 48-31 at the half. The Nets played a miserable half, scoring just 31 points on 13-for-47 from the field. Deron Williams finished the half shooting 3-for-13 while Joe Johnson shot 0-for-4.

The Bucks opened up the third quarter on a 9-2 run and immediately opened up a 24 point lead. Avery Johnson inserted MarShon Brooks, who helped to slightly turn the game around for the Nets.?For the Bucks, Ellis turned in a very powerful quarter, scoring eight points and two assists and helped the Bucks open its lead up to 29 points, 68-39. The Nets closed the lead to 15 points, but never got any closer and trailed by 20, 75-55 heading into the fourth quarter.

Deron Williams has had a tough 16 games this year and is playing through a plethora of injuries right now but he won't use them as am excuse for his poor play.

Poor play for Williams is still above average and All-star quality for most and anyone who watches him play knows he runs the Brooklyn Nets and even with his poor shooting he is leading in many ways that help the team win.

One thing you love about superstars is that they are never satisfied with how they are playing and Williams is one of those superstars.

The Brooklyn Nets went into Miami last night with two things in mind, first exact some revenge from a previous blowout to the Heat, and secondly to show the Heat that they will be a team to be dealt with come playoff time.

The Nets played good basketball in the first half, but in the the second half, the ball movement was not as good and the Heat eventually put the upstart Nets away as the Nets could not hit a single shot in the fourth quarter.

Even John Schuhmann noticed during the first half...

In case you missed it, during Wednesday night's battle up in Boston against the Celtics, with 29.5 seconds remaining in the first half and the Nets leading the Celtics by a score of 51-35, Kris Humphries fouled Kevin Garnett. Humphries made slight contact with Garnett's face and Garnett fell to the hardwood.

Rajon Rondo took exception and attacked Kris Humphries. The skirmish ensued which resulted in three ejections. Humphries and Rondo were both tossed for their role in the brawl and Gerald Wallace and Kevin Garnett were each given technical fouls.

Unfortunately for the Nets, Gerald Wallace picked up a technical foul earlier in the game for arguing a non-call and picked up his second technical during the skirmish. Both he and Humphries were ejected for the Nets. For the Celtics, Rondo was tossed and Garnett was called for a technical foul.
