WATCH: Mike Francesa talks to SNY about his future

WFAN host dishes to Jonas Schwartz about how his app affects his radio show and whether a second voice will be added

What does the future hold for Mike Francesa?

SNY's Jonas Schwartz sat down with the longtime WFAN host and Francesa says there's a lot that must be figured out with both his subscription-only app and his WFAN show.

"First thing's first: I have to decide whether it's just gonna be the app or be the FAN," Francesa said. "We have to work this out because there are some issues where I think we are hitting a conflict. The app's gotten big enough more quickly than we thought, and I think there's a point where it does impact the radio show. So we have to decide how to work both of them."

"If I do a thing on the app in the morning, 10 minutes, is that gonna affect my show that day?" he continued. "Is that gonna affect my ratings that day? This is stuff we discuss. If I go on the app at night after I've already done three-and-a-half hours…is it gonna hurt the radio show? Because they're still paying me a lot of money to do the radio show. We don't want to impact that, but everything impacts everything now. So there's all this to discuss."

Francesa also addressed whether he would add a second voice to his show, explaining that if he does add someone it would happen this fall, and the second person would be more of a "sidekick" than a co-host.

"Not a 50-50 relationship - but Mike and the Mad Dog wasn't a 50-50 anyway. Just ask him. He complained all the time that it wasn't," Francesa joked. "I'm not trying to recreate Mike and the Mad Dog, nor do I think anybody ever will. It would be more of a sidekick deal, but someone who could host a show when I'm not here."
