Seton Hall gave it their best effort, mounting a late comeback, but ultimately the No. 8 Pirates came up short against Villanova at Prudential Center, falling to the No. 14 Wildcats 79-77.
After the game, senior Myles Powell and head coach Kevin Willard discussed the tough loss, which came on the team's Senior Night.
"We're a team that's not going to give up. We fought until we see zeros on the clock," said Powell. "We still had a chance to win the game, but … I just wish it could have turned out a little better.
"They handled our runs and they handled our crowd."
Powell, who has been a dynamic scorer during his career at Seton Hall, scored 14 points on the night.
"Emotionally it's going to take us a little bit of time to get over this one, just because it was Senior Night," said Willard.
"It's what I told the team, I said 'Guys, this was a great college game.' Two of the top teams in the country playing against each other.
"This hurts right now, but it doesn't take away anything from what this team has done all year long."
