The Nets hadn't swept a back-to-back and were just 1-6 in the second game of back-to-backs this season, but they had no trouble defending their home court on Tuesday.
Brooklyn has now won six straight home games, running their overall home record up to 11-9 on the season, even after a six-game home losing streak earlier this season.
In fact, after a 2-6 home start, the Nets have gone 9-3 in their last 12 games at the Barclays Center, including a 5-0 record at home since the start of the new year.
After the game, Andray Blatche had a matter-of-fact quote that was short and sweet.
"We're becoming a very dangerous team."Blatche, who's been on a roll lately off the bench, had a game-high 18 points on Tuesday. He's put up 57 points and 31 rebounds over the Nets' last three games.
It really is amazing how much better of a team the Nets have become since the start of the new year. It wasn't so long ago that teams like the Knicks, Lakers and Pistons were beating up on Brooklyn in their own building. Now, the likes of the Warriors, Heat and Hawks are no match for the Nets' home cooking.
Since January 1, only the Nets (5-0), Pacers (6-0) and Clippers (5-0) are undefeated at home. Brooklyn's 8-1 start to the new year has gotten them within two games of first place in the division, and three games shy of the third seed overall in the East.
Quite a turnaround for a team that looked like they were in danger of spiraling out of control as recently the holiday season. If they can keep playing as well as they have over the first few weeks of 2014, they might end up making some serious noise in a jumbled conference that currently has seven teams within 4.5 games of each other.
