"It is a calf injury," Italy's head coach Simone Pianigiani said after Bargnani was removed in the second quarter of the team's win over Israel after playing just 12 minutes. "On Monday, he will undergo tests to evaluate the injury."
Bargnani played in just 29 games for the Knicks last season, most of that due to a calf injury.
Hey, at least it's not a concussion! But give it time, because if Bargnani plays on Wednesday after losing most of his season to a calf injury last year, then this will be a stupid as the way Bogdanovic's injury was handled by Croatia.
Listen, I may be crazy, but I think Bargnani could actually be a decent pick up by Brooklyn. There's talent there, and the Nets are paying pennies on the dollar for a player so motivated he said he would have played this season for free. That said, he won't make any impact whatsoever if injuries relegate him to the bench once again. Needless to say, this isn't a great start, and could only be made worse by rushing back into Italy's lineup.
