Need to Know: Joe Johnson scored 27 points on 11-for-19 shooting, including 4-of-5 from three, to lead the Nets. It was a home season-high for Johnson.
Mason Plumlee had 19 points and 13 rebounds; he is averaging 18.1 points and 10.6 rebounds while shooting 67.3 percent in his past six games. He had 21 points on 9-of-10 shooting with 12 rebounds in the win over the Pistons to become the first Nets player to have 20 points and 10 rebounds in a game while shooting 90 percent or better since Mike Gminski on Nov. 13, 1987.
Starters Jarrett Jack (17 points) and Sergey Karasev (12) were the other Nets in double figures. The Nets were again without Deron Williams (strained calf).
Brook Lopez entered at the start of the second quarter, seeing his first action in nine games. He played eight minutes and scored six points on 3-for-5 shooting.
The Nets were dominated once again on the boards, outrebounded 51-39 by the Nuggets. Denver took the lead in the third period before the Nets regrouped and outscored the Nuggets 26-19 in the fourth quarter. Kenneth Faried had 20 points and 14 rebounds and Ty Lawson 29 points and nine assists to lead Denver.
The Nets are now 11-2 against sub-.500 teams.
Four of Brooklyn's last six games have been decided by six points or less.
The Nets' 58 first-half points were their most in a first half since scoring a season-high 63 at Phoenix Nov. 12.
