Sure, they have a couple tough games sprinkled in, but there are enough bad teams to wrap up the season to get this team where it needs to be. There are 25 games left. To me, the Bulls are a monkey on their back and they have to win this game from a mental stand point. A couple teams seem to have their number (Bulls and Pistons come to mind, plus Toronto). But if you beat the Bulls that means you're at .500 with 24 games left [...] That would be a huge accomplishment considering the hole they dug themselves in.
Could not agree more. I don't think you can realistically think about winning the division and making a deep run in the playoffs before the Nets have climbed over that mark. Once you're there, then everything can take off.
Brooklyn has four of their next five games at home. After the Bulls, Memphis comes to town, then they'll swing up to Boston on Friday. Sacramento and Toronto come in to wrap up that stretch, before the Nets make their only trip to Miami for the season. Those five games before they meet the Heat are huge. If you can get a 4-1 there, I do think the Nets will climb all the way back to win the Atlantic. But many of those games-- especially the Toronto match up -- are a must. Brooklyn has left themselves little room for error here. If they want the three seed, they'll need to earn it, and that all starts with getting to and above .500.
