The Nets fell into an early hole and trailed by 16 points at the end of the first quarter. The Heat, led by Tyler Johnson's 24-point game, maintained their lead even as the Nets outscored them in the final quarter.
Spencer Dinwiddie led Brooklyn with 18 points to go along with five assists. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson chipped in 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Ed Davis had nine rebounds and eight points.
Shabazz Napier scored 13 points, including a three-pointer and two assists, two rebounds, and two steals.
The Nets will return to action on Friday with a road matchup against the Wizards at 7 p.m.
