Nets guard Caris LeVert successfully underwent surgery on Thursday to repair ligaments in his right thumb, the team announced.

LeVert is expected to return in four to six weeks, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The injury was originally diagnosed as a minor sprain, and LeVert was expected to miss his second straight game on Thursday.

In his fourth NBA season out of Michigan, LeVert has started nine games for the Nets this season, and is averaging 16.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in 31.6 minutes per game. He is the team's third-leading scorer, behind star point guard Kyrie Irving (29.7) and guard Spencer Dinwiddie (17.1).
