The Nets nearly pulled out a close victory last night in Los Angeles, but despite the loss, they will have an opportunity for redemption when they play the Golden State Warriors in Oakland tonight.

This past week, multiple NBA websites listed the Nets in the Top 10 of their power rankings, and it has been a long time since that can be said about the Nets organization.

There was one noticeable omission, though. One website in particular didn't list the Nets in its Top 10.

#8 - Brooklyn (6-2)

Pace: 91.5 (30), OffRtg: 105.6 (6), DefRtg: 102.1 (17) The Nets have won five straight, even though they haven't played all that great. Joe Johnson still isn't shooting well, they're the league's worst third-quarter team, and the only teams they've been able to defend are the Magic and Kings. So this week's matchups with the Lakers and Clippers will be very interesting. We'll see how far they've come since getting smoked by the Heat.

SB Nation

#6 - Brooklyn Nets (6-2)

There's always that scary chance that a seriously-hyped team stumbles out of the gates, but that hasn't happened with the Nets. After falling to 1-2, they've reeled off five straight wins, but Tuesday's game at L.A. to face the Lakers will be their first big test since facing Miami on Nov. 7.

Yahoo Sports

#7 - Brooklyn Nets (6-2)

(6-2, previous ranking: 12th): The Nets have five straight wins, but face a tough week with road games against the Lakers, Golden State and Clippers.

CBS Sports

#10 -  Brooklyn Nets  (6-2)

Their schedule is so soft, nine out of 10 doctors recommend it for people suffering with aching gums. Their colors should be black on peach.

#12 - Brooklyn Nets (6-2)

Last Week: 18 The victims in this five-game winning streak have a composite record of 13-27. The most impressive win of the five came against the Rondo-less Celtics at home. Yet there is some noise coming out of Brooklyn courtesy of some encouraging flashes from an improving (we think) Brook Lopez.

ESPN has yet to give the Nets credit for their early season record for the simple reason that they do not believe their opponents are worthy of that high of a ranking but that will all change in the next few weeks since the Nets will be facing much better teams.

Though they lost to the Lakers last night, they showed that they can play with one of the league's better teams, so we'll see how the Nets fare when they return to Brooklyn this week and face the Clippers, Trailblazers, and Knicks.
