Both teams engaged in a back-and-forth affair throughout the first half and entered the second half knotted up at 45. But in the third quarter, the Nets pulled away in a big way, scoring 38 points to go ahead by 21.
Brooklyn utilized a balanced attack as six players scored at least 10 points to keep the Cavaliers at bay.
Jarrett Allen and Caris LeVert each scored 10 points and combined to grab 14 rebounds, while Ed Davis led the team with nine rebounds. Joe Harris and Jared Dudley eached hit four three-pointers.
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Shabazz Napier each made their season debuts and scored eight points.
The Nets will head to New Orleans to face the Pelicans on Friday at 8 p.m.
