Friday night marked the first time the Nets and Lakers faced each other since their big offseason trade involving D'Angelo Russell and Brook Lopez.
Russell scored 17 points in his return to Los Angeles, but the Nets fell to the Lakers, 124-112. Allen Crabbe led the Nets with 25 points off the bench, while Rondae Hollis-Jefferson contributed 21 points and four assists.
Crabbe was 4-for-8 on three-pointers, but the team struggled as they shot only 23.7 percent.
Lopez led all scorers with 34 points in his first game against his former team. Rookie Kyle Kuzma, who was drafted by the Lakers using Brooklyn's first round pick, scored 21 points and Jordan Clarkson had 19 points off the bench.
