Things may be looking up for the Nets this season.
Per FiveThirtyEight's CARMELO system, which factors each player's future performance based on trajectory of similar NBA players, the Nets are expected to finish with a 36-46 record and 34 percent chance of making the playoffs.
It is a stark contrast from last season, when the Nets were 28-54 and in last place in the Eastern Conference.
The Nets return much of the same roster, headlined by point guard D'Angelo Russell, and added guys like Kenneth Faried and Shabaz Napier.
FiveThirtyEight's projections also have the Warriors as the best team in the league and favorties to win the NBA Finals, giving them a 49 percent chance.
They are not high on LeBron James turning the Lakers into champions, though, projecting them with just a one percent chance of winning the NBA Finals.
