The Nets needed double overtime in early January to defeat the Wizards last time.
The Wizards are 8-7 since point guard John Wall returned healthy.
New Wizards Team
In addition to Wall being healthy, the Wizards will have at least two other players healthy that did not play last time against the Nets.
Trevor Ariza, who scored 20 points off the bench for the Wizards Wednesday night in a win over the Knicks, and A.J. Price are back in action.
Trevor Booker has also since returned after missing the Nets’ game, but he’s still listed as day-to-day.
Joe Smooth and D-Will Struggling
Joe Johnson and Deron Williams combined the last two games have been cold from the field.
They shot a combined 9-of-25 for 28 points in Wednesday’s win over the Pistons and combined for 9-of-28 shooting for 26 points in Tuesday’s loss to the Lakers.
They both have knocked down clutch shots in clutch spots, but the Nets need their backcourt to turn in a consistent performance each night.
Williams has also been struggling with turnovers recently, so and with the Wizards playing better basketball, Brooklyn can’t hand them the game.
Andray Blatche Back in Town Again
Andray Blatche was not exactly welcomed back with open arms from the fans in Washington during the last matchup between these teams.
However, he banked in his first shot of the game to silence the crowd and went on to record a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
He’s been in a bit of an offensive funk lately, so maybe he will break out again against his former team.
He will definitely be berated with boos again though.
The Nets really could use a win tonight against the Wizards as the remaining schedule before the All-Star break is brutal.
Brooklyn hosts the Spurs Sunday night, heads to Indiana to play the Pacers Monday night and closes out the first half hosting the Nuggets Wednesday night.
Heading into this stretch with a two0game winning streak would give the Nets confidence against some tougher competition.
The action tips off at 7 p.m. and can be seen on the YES Network.
