The Nets announced D'Angelo Russell underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Friday.
It is unknown what Russell's timetable for a return will be. He will miss the Nets' next game against the Jazz Friday due to a left knee contusion, the team has announced.
The 21-year-old exited Saturday night's game against the Jazz with the injury, where the initial prognosis expected him to miss several games. Without their leading scorer on Tuesday, the Nets fell to the Celtics 109-102.
Russell is enjoying a breakout third season in the league, his first in Brooklyn. Russell is averaging 20.9 points, 5.7 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game while shooting 47 percent from the field, all career highs.
The Nets are without a timetable for Russell's return, though head coach Kenny Atkinson believes it'll be "sooner rather than later," via NY Post.
