Happy Friday! Here is some Giants news from the "wires" so to speak...

RotoWorld: The Newark Star-Ledger considers Giants RG Chris Snee a lock to be released."Snee, 32 on Saturday, is set to count a gargantuan $11.75 million against the 2014 salary cap. There's absolutely no way he's coming back at that rate. The G-Men will save $7.25 million against the cap by cutting Snee. He underwent hip and elbow surgery this past season after going on I.R. in early October. The Giants need to overhaul their offensive line this offseason."

The win in Washington last night leaves the Giants at 5-7 this morning, two games behind Dallas and Washington in the NFC East divisional race. Their chances of getting to the postseason are razor-thin, but they aren't about to give up. They want to at least make a statement before they exit.

"I think we?ve won five of the last six games," said QB Eli Manning. "We obviously had a tough loss last week, and we?re right there in there. There?s no quit on this team. We?re going to keep giving it our best shot and enjoy preparing and getting better, enjoying the games and try going out there and win and have something to smile about.?

WR Victor Cruz: "It?s going to come down to the very end. It?s going to come down to that last play and it?s going to come down to whoever wants it more. I think, in this division, it?s definitely indicative of the types of players that are playing in it and how difficult it is week in and week out to play in the division.?

Good morning. A little rain in the area this morning, but it should not put a damper on today's workouts. Yesterday, every player on the active roster practiced for the first time in well, a long time.

"They?ve been focused and they?ve worked well. I thought yesterday was a good practice," said Tom Coughlin. "I thought today the energy was good. There?s some things we?ve got to clean up, but they know how important this game is. As I?ve said many times, the next game is the most important game of the year, and it?s this weekend against Dallas in a six-game schedule now."

The biggest game of the year awaits for the Giants this week and they will be practicing again today out at QDTC. The importance of this week's game vs the Cowboys has not been lost on the Giants, who suddenly have a golden opportunity to salvage a once-thought lost season.

"We?re very much aware of having dug ourselves a very, very deep hole, have started to make a little bit of progress to get out," Tom Coughlin said yesterday. "It?s nice that we do have a challenge of this nature. We call it an opportunity and all we can do? We have a six-game schedule, one game at a time, and just prepare ourselves as best as we possibly can for each opponent. Do the very, very best we can and hopefully keep our dreams alive."

The 18-13 win in Pittsburgh was not a pretty one to watch. Both teams has a ton of work to do, but then again, both teams were missing key players. And the starters for both sides only played a fraction of the game.

But, you've got to start somewhere. The Giants controlled a good portion of the action with the exception of a few plays, so that's better than what we expected going in. Let's hear what the blogosphere is saying this morning.

On the injury front, OL Chris Snee (hip), DB Terrell Thomas (hamstring) will be held out this week. OL James Brewer is out with a concussion. Concussions will also sideline OL Justin Pugh and RB Ryan Torain. Rookie safety Cooper Taylor, has a hamstring strain and is also not expected to play.

Justin Tuck (back) will be a game time decision. WR Hakeem Nicks (groin) may see limited action.
