New York Giants Offseason Program

As per published reports, the Jets put on a better show than the Giants at the local pro days the two teams held recently at their facilities (NJ.com, Apr 13).

The Giants hosted several dozen players at QDTC on Thursday while the Jets had their shot at some of the same local prospects on Friday. The general consensus from players who attended both sessions is that the Jets had their act together and held a more structured program.

What does this mean? Well, not much to Giant fans. The Giants have been doing things at a high level for years and now the Jets, under new GM Mike Maccagnan, are raising their standards to meet the norm.

Today begins the voluntary offseason program for the Giants at Timex Performance Center. As stated in the previous post, it's "voluntary," but considering how many veteran players around the league are out of work, expect large turnouts this week.

The Giants will be welcoming several new players into the fold, who they recently signed as free agents: TE Brandon Myers; DTs Cullen Jenkins and Mike Patterson; LB Dan Connor; S Ryan Mundy; WR Louis Murphy and K Josh Brown. CB Aaron Ross is returning after spending a year down in Jacksonville.

Also returning are several of their own players who were retained via free agency: DT Shaun Rogers, OT Will Beatty, OL Kevin Boothe, QB David Carr, CB Terrell Thomas, LB Keith Rivers and RB Ryan Torain.
