New York Giants OTAs
Some quotes from the Giants Thursday OTA session at TPC:
"They?ve made quite a few plays. They really have. When the receivers are on the same page and he?s very confident that they?re going to maneuver according to the way they?re supposed to and he?s been very, very sharp and he and Murphy have made some plays." - Tom Coughlin on the growing chemistry between QB Eli Manning and WR Louis Murphy
Do we have a problem here...? Perhaps. We knew WR Victor Cruz would not be at today's OTA, but Hakeem Nicks was expected to attend and is not present...
The Giants resume OTAs today out at TPC and run through the end of the week. It is scheduled to be up near 90? tomorrow and Friday.
What to expect: not Victor Cruz , that's for sure. Hakeem Nicks will most likely be in attendance after diffusing the chatter that he missed a session last week as a result of a contract issue.
The Giants' top pick, Justin Pugh and seventh-rounder Eric Herman are the two players the Giants hope can bolster their aging, sagging offensive line. Snee knows they will be leaning on him for counsel and some pointers.
"The time's come and we're certainly not getting any younger," Snee told reporters yesterday. "From what I've seen and heard, this kid (Pugh) is a good guy who will fit in our locker and meeting room well. He's a hard worker. He doesn't know it, but I've been sitting back kind of watching him.? He works and so does the other guy. Herman works hard, too. Those are guys we'd like to have around here."

So, did Eli Manning like what he saw today from the back of the depth chart?
"Yeah. I hit Louis (Murphy) on a deep one. I got Rueben (Randle) in there. I got (Jerrel) Jernigan some catches. We?re getting everybody in there getting them a lot of reps, getting on time with them. We?re always going to get better. Whoever is on the field, we?re going to expect them to go out there and play at a high level. So I think the more guys you have who are experienced and ready to play different positions, the better off we?re going to be."Jernigan, entering his third season, has played little and produced less. He was pinpointed recently by OC Kevin Gilbride as one of the players the Giants would be seeking to turn the corner on their career this summer.
Day One of this OTA session is over and the Giants got to see the full mix of rookies, veterans and free agents on the field together for the first time.
Except some were missing. We knew Victor Cruz would not be in attendance, but Hakeem Nicks? He was expected, but did not show.
