Sounds crazy, but maybe it's not. Is Eli Manning going through the "tired arm syndrome"? If he is, it could answer a lot of questions about why his performance has dipped over the past few weeks.

Even the best baseball pitchers get put on pitch counts. It's nothing to be ashamed of. Eli has played more games over the past nine years than any other QB in the NFL. He never misses a game or a practice. He is also holding offsite workouts with his receivers in the offseason.

In addition, he's coming off a 20-game season (the downside of making the Super Bowl as a wildcard) and has come firing right out of the gate again this season with an uneven schedule. The Giants also have not had their bye yet this year. ?So, yes, it's a possibility.

Giants head coach Tom Coughlin made these comments yesterday in response to the news that Steve Sabol of NFL Films had passed away:

"I feel so bad for Steve?s family and what Steve went through here for the last 18 months was just terrible, so our heart goes out to Steve?s family and all those? Steve and his dad are the recorders of history in the National Football League and what a magnificent job they?ve done, so our heart pours out to Steve?s family."

Sabol was honored for his philanthropic work last year at Coughlin's Jay Fund event in NYC.

Steve Sabol, the son of NFL Films founder Ed Sabol and the driving force behind the modernization of the sports highlight reel, has passed away at the age of 69. The cause was brain cancer.

"Steve was the creative genius behind NFL Films' remarkable work," said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell today via email. "Steve's passion for football was matched only by his talent and energy. He was a major contributor to the success of the NFL, a man who changed the way we looked at football and sports, and a great friend. His legacy is assured.?Steve was an incredible visionary. He spent 50 years at the NFL and changed the way we see pro football. So when you're watching the games this week, it's worth remembering just how much Steve contributed to the way we think, see, and love our game."?

Steve and Ed Sabol turned a sideline highlight reel service into a major art form, dramatizing the action via slow-motion camera shots, driving orchestral soundtracks and poetic copy read by legendary narrators.
