Due to a scheduling conflict, the NFL Draft is being moved to mid-May next year. Radio City Music Hall is instituting a spring show featuring the Rockettes, therefore bumping the draft back a few weeks.

Commissioner Roger Goodell stated today at the league meetings in Boston that the league may eventually look to move the draft out of the Big Apple if the RCMH conflict goes on past next year:

"We haven't found the location in New York that meets our requirements and where we think we can continue to grow the event. If we do, that will be one of the alternatives. I think one of the things we have to do at some point is start looking at other cities."

KR Josh Cribbs, who visited the Giants last week, has decided to sign with the Raiders. After leaving meetings with the Giants, Jets and Lions without an offer, Cribbs circled back to Oakland and accepted their offer of a one-year deal.

There was some concern that Cribbs' knee (meniscus surgery) even though he passed a physical earlier this year in Arizona and then again in Oakland. The Cardinals cooled on Cribbs after taking Tyrann Mathieu in the draft.

Hey, football weather is finally here in NY. The only thing missing now is the football. Even if the Giants were in it this year, this would be the quietest week of the season. ?Unless you plan on watching the Pro Bowl (let me know how that goes). ?The Manning brothers, who are both in Hawaii this week, have vowed to restore legitimacy to the Pro Bowl, which has become a running joke the past decade or so.

"The past two years, the play in this game has been unacceptable," Peyton Manning said. "If it was a walkthrough, your coach would say it was a bad walkthrough. And that's why (the league) could try to cancel this game."

Speaking of brothers.....The Harbaugh Bowl is not off to a great start from a fan-interest perspective. First off the brothers are among the least-liked coaches around the league. Jim has been cagey with the media and John is a low key guy. Both are passionate, intelligent and not going anywhere for a long time. Their players and fans love them, the rest of the league not so much (I chalk that up to jealousy)....too bad because this is a historic event.

Mara Statements Spark Debate Over "Secret" Salary Cap

The NFL thought they could have it both ways. They stung the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins with massive salary cap sanctions this offseason and appeared to have their authority over the teams and players completely galvanized when appeals were shot down yesterday.

That was yesterday.?Today comes the question that many have been whispering but have been reluctant to say out loud:

Here are some highlights from Roger Goodell's press conference on Tuesday at the league meetings in Houston:

On an NFL franchise in London:Are you talking about a franchise? We?re a far cry from that. I think you?re talking two different things. We?re talking about just the series. If we had a franchise, the franchise would be located over there. We obviously haven?t gone so far as to work out all of the logistics of how that would work, but if a franchise is based there that would be their home community and they would play there. Now, would they live there all year round? That?s a choice teams make, players make just like they make when they?re based here in the United States.

According to Gary Myers of the New York Daily News, Barber has had one workout with the Miami Dolphins. He was not offered a contract. At this point, it would be surprising if Barber is on a 53-man roster to open the season. The minimum salary for Barber is $910,000 and that figured would be fully guaranteed if he was with a team in Week 1. Obviously, there are cheaper and much younger options available.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is a stand-up guy. He truly wants to make the NFL as fan-centric as possible. He is currently embarking on a six day tour of eight training camps accompanied by John Madden in the Madden Cruiser.

In an interview this week with the NFL Network's Rich Eisen, Goodell reaffirmed his stance that the fans come first.

Eisen: The fan experience at the game; I know that this is something you and your staff have been working hard on since you took over, but these past several months, making sure that the 2010 experience for fans is not only safe, but also enhanced. What have you guys come up with?

Goodell: The first thing is that everything we do is focused on the fans. How do we make the fan experience better? Whether it?s at home through the television with watching the NFL Network or using NFL.com or whether it?s attending our game.? We have focused on making sure that experience in the stadium is safe, enjoyable and fans have the ability to experience as much football as possible when they do come to those games. Technology is a great way to do that. We have several teams that have put in new high-definition scoreboards this year. We have a new stadium in New York that two teams will have. All of these things hopefully will improve that experience for our fans, make it easier for them and a more enjoyable experience for them when they attend the game.
