I'm not into advocating for on-air personalities from rival networks, but ESPN's Colin Cowherd is as in tune with what is happening in sports and sports culture than probably anyone else on the air today. If you're not following him either live (10-1 each morning) or via podcast, I suggest you start.

Each week, Cowherd discloses his Herd Hierarchy on the NFL. This week, he has the Giants on top, with everyone else in the distance.....

It's a position every fan base salivates over. Except Giant fans. We don't hold tertiary titles in high regard. We prefer the ones that are associated with the tactile (rings and trophies).

ESPN published their pre-whatever NFL power rankings this week and have placed the Giants atop the list. Although we thank them for their consideration, it doesn't mean a thing. But here's quick look at the list....

1. Saints - The champs retain the top spot until further notice. ?The offense was a little flat in week 1, but you can't keep Drew Brees and co. down for too long.

2. Packers - They beat the Eagles in a close game on the road, but I was a little disappointed in some of their execution on offense. ?The loss of Ryan Grant will hurt, but they will manage; they might be the most talented team in the NFL.

3. Vikings - Favre was rusty, and they were facing the defending champs in the Superdome. ?They're a good team, but last year may have been their year.
