NFL Week 3
The Giants travel down to Charlotte to face the Panthers in a contest featuring two teams seeking their first victory of the 2012 season.
Kickoff: 1pm Eastern
Jim Mancari: ?If there was ever a must-win in Week 3 of an NFL season, it is this weekend for the Giants against the Carolina Panthers. Very few teams can recover from an 0-2 start, but it's the way the Giants have reached 0-2 that is even more troubling than the record. Now, every aspect of the Giants' play is not going to automatically improve all in the same week just because the Giants need a victory. Big Blue instead needs to start the process of improving in a few major areas, especially the running game, getting pressure on opposing quarterbacks and eliminating turnovers.
Cam Newton has gotten off to a slow start for Carolina, but the Panthers' defense is no slouch. Many experts are expecting the Giants to head down to Carolina and bury the Panthers, but the team is not yet ready for that. However, it is ready to get on the board in the win column, no matter how that is achieved. I'm expecting a much closer game that features plenty of offense. The Giants need to turn field goals into touchdowns, which could be the first step on the road to recovery.....Giants 31, Panthers 24
Arizona wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald had nine catches for 114 yards and a touchdown in the Cardinals? 27-6 win over Philadelphia. Fitzgerald has 707 career receptions and became the youngest player in NFL history (29 years, 23 days) to reach the 700-catch mark. He surpassed the previous record (Jason Witten, 30 years, 133 days) by over a year.
With the victory, the Cardinals are 3-0 for the first time since 1974. Dating back to last season, Arizona has won 10 of its past 12 games.

"It's been one of their things that has made them a good, consistent football team for a number of years," Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said. "You have to make sure that you really are buttoned up in your protections and do a good job of mixing your passes, so you can get something out quick to compensate for that."

This is why they play the games. We had a feeling the Giants would show up today. The pendulum had to swing back at some point.
The Giants pounded Michael Vick in Philadelphia this afternoon and drove him from the game in the fourth quarter with a broken hand. They then took further advantage of a disorganized Eagles defense to win what many thought was an un-winnable game for them, 29-16.

What went wrong on that play? Quinn says just about everything.....
"The snap, the punt, and the coverage. It was very poor tackling. It was a poor punt and the snap didn?t help. That?s my job to have the snap where it?s supposed to be and the punt where it?s supposed to be and the coverage where it?s supposed to be."
