2/9/17 | 5:03PM: Alain Vigneault said of Holden, "every time we talk about Nick since he has been here, the first word that comes to mind is dependability. He has been very dependable, steady, high percentage, like any player he will make the odd mistake. I like his dependability when he doesn't have the puck, I like his dependability when he does have the puck. He makes the play in front of him, if it's an easy early outlet he will use it, if it's not there and its a flip or the glass he will get it out and he has been effective for us and out of all of our left handed D, other than Mac, he is the guy that is most comfortable."

12/31/16 | 3:09PM: Alain Vigneault said on Saturday, "our scouts and management felt very strong about him in the sense that they all thought we were getting a trustworthy defenseman who could be versatile. Could go from a third pair to a first pair depending on how he was playing, and how the group was playing. Could help you out on a second PP unit and there is no doubt that he has done that. It's a small community, there was a French coach here before which I am good friends with and we talked in the summer about him and he felt the same way, that he was versatile and trustworthy and would be a good fit for us." (NYR)

2:36PM: Nick Holden had a goal and an assist on Thursday against the Coyotes with 2 shots on goal, 5 shot attempts, 1 takeaway and 1 blocked shot in 22:17.

  • On the emotion, "it's huge. I felt like we were flat to start the game and they were out hitting us and out chancing us and we started to simplify, got pucks deep, started to hit back and it doesn't happen every time but scrums ensued and guys did a good job and it energized us on the bench."

Nick Holden, while wearing the Broadway Hat, spoke with reporters on MSG and said:

  • On the goal, "We got a 3 on 2, McDonagh changed and I jumped on. Stepan made a great play, turned around and popped it right to me with some speed. Kreids was driving the net so I kind of looked at him and the shot just over his blocker."
  • Did you see a hole there, "maybe the look-off helped me but I just shot it on the strong side there."
  • On the shutout, "coming into this game, they are an elite team in the West, we are one of the top teams in the East. These ones are always fun to play in and both teams had chances and both goalies made huge saves and luckily for us we got it done in OT. These games are fun to play and you get a lot of speed, skill, hit and they are lots of fun to play in."
