The season might not have resulted in a playoff bid, but the Jets finished the season with an 8-8 record playing spoiler to the Miami Dolphins playoff chances. ?After the Miami meltdown back in 2011, this win exorcised some franchise demons and created the divergence the fans needed at the ended of the 2011 season.

There's a lot of good things ahead for this team.

ONE LAST TIME!

While the season is ending one way or another next week for the Jets, the offense seems to finally be evening out over the last three games and the team is playing their hearts out for Rex Ryan.

While winning over the Browns might not change many national opinions, it was still a good win for the Jets.

KICK IT!

It's been a little while, but here's the post you've been waiting for more than a month to see again ...

The Jets did it. ?It only took a team another team with a porous defense and a young quarterback to get it done to get off the schneid and stop the bleeding. ?Thankfully, it came against an age-old conference rival.

DO YOUR ANTI-SNOW DANCE, WILSON BROTHERS!!!

Kellen Winslow was back at Florham Park yesterday after the team made room for him on the roster, and he answered questions about his suspension for failing a drug test. ?Darryl Slater wrote about Winslow's return for the Star-Ledger.

Winslow said his suspension stemmed from an allergy medication, though confusion remains as to the exact substance that triggered the violation.

After a week off, the Jets have gotten back to practice and Santonio Holmes looks as if he is ready to return to the field full time. Holmes has missed the past five games due to a hamstring injury after easing back into the lineup this year from his season-ending Lisfranc injury suffered just four games into the 2012 season.

On Monday, Holmes participated in the entire 30 minutes of practice open reporters, a good indication that he could see playing time this weekend in Buffalo. Holmes worked with the team was the first such since his injury against the Titans.

So far, Holmes has 10 receptions on 24 targets for 243 yards and one score. More than half those stats came against the Bills in Week 3 when Holmes had a career day. When healthy, Holmes production has been mercurial this season but his talent combined with Geno's progress could be a boost for the Jets during the second half of the season.

Got a?Case of the Mondays? Fear not! Columnist and TheJetsBlog Podcast co-host?Corey Griffin?has you covered every?Monday?morning with thoughts, ideas and opinions about all things Jets.Evaluating the AFC playoff picture through only 10 weeks is akin to watching an 87-year-old put together a puzzle without his glasses. It looks a little jumbled, there?s definitely some pieces missing and it?ll probably be a while before the picture looks coherent.

For all their dominance, the Broncos are buoyed by a 38-year-old quarterback with failing legs. Their chief rival for the No. 1 seed, undefeated Kansas City, is not nearly as imposing as their record, despite a No. 1 scoring defense and Jamaal Charles? MVP campaign. The Patriots, when healthy, look like the AFC?s best team, but they won?t be 100 percent any time this season. Meanwhile, the Colts were just worked in their own building by a Brian Schottenheimer and Kellen Clemens-led offense and the Bengals continue to ebb and flow on Andy Dalton?s schizophrenic arm (and head).

Home from the hospital, finally!

Mom and baby are both healthy and thanks to the magic of DirecTV's Football On Your Phone (filmed in New Orleans, ironically), I am a happy man with a big Jets win over the Saints sending the team into the bye at a very frisky 5-4.

All it will take is a few good weeks in a row to get right back to the .500 mark ? or even better. I have to say though, it?s been very difficult to pick games this season, as there have been plenty of surprises.

The Chiefs and Bears came up short for me last week, but I earned wins with the Giants and Packers.

Here are this week?s picks. I?ll be using the point spreads from Yahoo! Sports. Feel free to include your picks for these or any other of the week?s games in the comments section. Good luck!

Today was a day of highs and lows for the Jets.

Yes, they did break a team record for penalties, but yes, they also did have some massive plays on offense, and yes, they did drop eight sacks on EJ Manuel.

So, in honor of his team-leading eight tackles and his first full sack of the season ...

Welp, it only took three seasons and eleven games for Rex Ryan to realize that he's coddled ... nay ... enabled his starting quarterback. After an embarrassing first half and what sounds like a heated locker room 'discussion' between coach and QB after the game, it sounds like daddy might finally realize that his son needs to respect authoritah!

Who knows what this means for next week, but who cares? The Jets can throw three interceptions and still best a team if their quarterback has his head out of his ass for just half of a game.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. ? The affable, somewhat sarcastic, always approachable Nick Bellore is a marked man in the Jets locker room.

Bellore and his beard

For 22 days now, the Jets linebacker has been the target of his teammates as part of the ?No Shave November? fad as he has been growing a beard and has refused to touch his burgeoning growth. Now itchy and thick, Bellore needs to endure a little more than a week before he can think about trimming let alone shaving the beard. It is a burden he feels he carries for the Jets team because of the sheer awesomeness of his facial hair.

Wow, we've had ourselves quite a little vacation from this clip! Welcome back, The Gap Band!

The Jets defense had a nice day for the Jets, helping the Jets hang around long enough for the offense to get going. ?Special teams was a letdown yet again this week ... I secretly think that the players are tanking the season on behalf of Westhoff to keep him around one more year ...

After a solid performance against the Colts last weekend, Mark Sanchez might feel a little respite from the heat he's faced over the previous two weeks, but but according to Sanchez, he's not affected by the intense scrutiny he's been under, via National Football Post.

Sanchez also insisted that he had blocked out all the speculation and talk that his starting job was in jeopardy with Tebow waiting in the wings and the Jets struggling coming into the game.

?It?s just part of the job,? Sanchez said. ?It was a victory for the team in general. As long as we?re winning, I?m happy. We just have to keep doing that and try to stay efficient. Block everything else out and just keep playing for the guys in the locker room.?For Sanchez, we're sure that the win feels best of all, but that it doesn't hurt to have the local and national media off his back for at least a week. ?Ray Lucas was insistent in the SNY Postgame show that the Jets quarterback is at his best when Shonn Greene and the running game can gain some yards on the ground. ?While New England has looked mortal this season, but one area in which they are playing extremely well is on defense against the run.

Antonio Cromartie and Nick Bellore aren't the only two-way players on the Jets. ?With Darrelle Revis out for Sunday's game and Isaiah Trufant questionable, Joe McKnight might take some snaps against the Steelers Sunday. ?The?Daily News reported that McKnight practiced at cornerback?throughout the week and that?the running back also met with defensive coaches to study the team?s defensive game plan.

McKnight of course is the Jets special teams standout and had lost out as the team's third-down back role to Bilal Powell in the preseason. ?When McKnight was recruited at the college level, some coaches wanted him to play defensive back, and ?according to Sporting News, he might have been great.

... several coaches recruiting McKnight (namely Ole Miss, according to Bruce Feldman?s book, ?Meat Market?) thought McKnight could have been a Pro Bowl cornerback if he stayed on the defensive side of the ball.
So while McKnight might have the raw skills to play corner, it's not as if he's done much of it ... so how could this work for the Jets?

Oh yeah! That was a sweet start to the season! Two touchdowns for the rookie receiver, Kerley with an impressive touchdown, Mario Williams a non-factor, a huge game from the defense? Maybe this will shut up the media about the Jets offense and how bad it is? ?Totes legit analysis coming a little later tonight ... but for now, we dance!
