NYCFC has acquired international transfer defender Maxime Chanot from Belgian Club K.V. Kortrijk, the team announced Saturday.
Chanot, 26, was signed after NYCFC acquired his discovery rights from Orlando City SC. He has mostly played center back in his career and has made 19 appearances for the Luxemborg national team.
"It is an understatement to say that I'm excited to play for New York City FC," Chanot said in a statement from the team. "It is a great honor and I want the people of New York City to know that I will do my best to make them proud of their team. In the course of my career I played in England, in France and the last 5 years in Belgium. It was definitely the perfect time for me to take on a new challenge."
In 36 games in the Belgian Pro League, Chanot notched four goals. He previously played with NYCFC defender Frederic Brillant in the Belgian Pro League in 2013.
