New York City Football Club transferred midfielder Kwadwo Poku to NASL side Miami FC.
The 24-year-old had five goals and seven assists in 34 games, with 9 MLS starts and 2 U.S. Open Cup games.
Miami came to NYCFC with a "significant offer," according to NYCFC Sporting Director Claudio Reyna. The deal will give NYCFC options in the summer transfer window, he said.
"This is a move that really makes sense for us," Reyna said. "We know and understand that at this stage of his career playing regular first team football is very important to Poku."
Poku scored one goal this season, on May 18, against Toronto FC.
"We'd like to thank Poku for his contribution to the building of New York City FC on and off the pitch" Reyna said. "Everyone at the club wishes him the very best in this next chapter of his career".
I just wanted to say THANK YOU to @NYCFC and most importantly, the fans in NYC. You made it a pleasure to play in New York. ❤️❤️❤️- Kwadwo Poku (@Poku) June 29, 2016
