Please note the following quotes from SNY's Mike Piazza: Road to Hall of Fame, debuting Wednesday, September 14th at 7:30 p.m.:
MIKE PIAZZA on being traded by the Dodgers:
"I did have a little bit of a chip. I did, basically, want to prove them, in a way, make them sort of feel like they made a mistake in trading me."
MIKE PIAZZA on his relationship with Mets fans:
"It's great because when you get embraced by them and they take you into their family, they don't do it to everybody - very few. They hand pick and to feel that emotional for me, it's just natural."
STEVE PHILLIPS on trading for Piazza:
"I always used to joke: I traded for him, I will never trade him. I would never have been the general manager to trade him... He's the guy. I mean, Seaver's the guy, and Piazza's the guy."
AL LEITER on Piazza as a Teammate:
"This guy gave it. And he was their guy. And he was their star… Of course they love you."
HOWIE ROSE on Piazza's Home Run following 9/11:
"It was, without I think overhyping it, the first step towards some semblance of normalcy returning to our lives. I don't think that's overstating it. And I think that way the home run is remembered over the years, the fact that it seems to grow in stature and significance annually would support that."
SNY will re-air the documentary Thursday, September 15th at 6:00 p.m., Friday, September 16th at 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 18th at 4:30 p.m.
