Adam Clendening has played in 9 straight games after only playing in 9 of the Rangers first 40 games.
On the season, Clendening has 1 goal, 7 assists, a plus 6 rating, 23 shots on goal and an average of 16:06 per game.
Since being a regular, Clendening has 1 goal, 4 assists, an even rating, 17 shots on goal and an average of 16:06 per game.
Alain Vigneault said recently that what he has seen from Clendening is "what I thought he was."
Vigneault said that Clendening can make good outlet passes out of the Rangers zone, is a "real hard worker" and gives the Rangers "everything he has on every shift" when he is on the ice.
He said that as a coach "what is what you want from your players."
When Clendening is on the ice at 5 on 5 the Rangers have had 250 shot attempts for, 200 against, 13 goals for and 8 goals against. (Natural Stat Trick)
Marc Staal is expected to be close to returning and Clendening could return to being a healthy scratch.
Adam Rotter: I like Clendening and think that he definitely fits in offensively with how the Rangers want to play, I just don't think he is viewed as one of their top 6 guys and will very likely be back in the press box next week. It just seems like Alain Vigneault has his top six and then there is a gap and then there is Clendening. He is more capable of playing the way the Rangers want to play than Dylan McIlrath was, but like last year, it seems like there is a top-six and then the seventh defenseman is a few rungs below.
