1:32PM: Raanta told Larry Brooks "it's great to get these games, but everybody knows who the No. 1 is." (NY Post)
He said that it's nice to play these games instead of Henrik but added that Lundqvist has been "awesome to me the whole time" and that he will be there for Hank since Hank has been there for him." (NY Post)
1:22PM: Raanta spoke after the morning skate today and said (NYR):
- "when you get a couple of games in a row it gets a little bit easier to find a rhythm but the whole team has been helping me a lot. If I can make the first save usually they are there to help me. I try to do my thing and keep it simple and enjoy the game."
- "It's a little bit easier to come to the game and just try to focus one day at a time. Today I came here and got a good workout and a sweat going and get myself prepared for tonight. It will be a tough battle. I think everybody knows that and it's a good way to get the day started and a good sweat going."
- "When you get wins you get a good feeling going but I have been feeling good the whole year."
10:56AM: Raanta is the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate and will start tonight. (NYR)
It is the first time that Henrik Lundqvist has been a healthy backup for 4 straight games.
10:31AM: Antti Raanta is in the starters net at today's morning skate and will likely start in goal for the Rangers tonight.
It would be Raanta's fourth straight start.
Adam Rotter: It's the right move to start Raanta tonight. He's the hot goalie, he hasn't allowed a goal in 2 1/2 games and the players have confidence in him right now. I think this has much more to do with Raanta than anything with Henrik Lundqvist and goalie should be no different from any other position, if a player is going hot then he should play. Once Raanta loses or struggles everything will revert back to normal and Henrik Lundqvist will be the Rangers starter. But for right now the Rangers need to go with the hot hand and that is Antti.
