12:47PM: On starting tonight, Raanta said, "I don't know if I was surprised but it's always nice to get starts. Third in a row and just go one day and one game at a time and that is the main thing in this life. Good game in the last game and it's nice to go straight back after that." (NYR)
11:24AM: Vigneault confirmed that Raanta will start tonight. (Morreale)
Raanta has started the previous two games for the Rangers.
He has played twice against the Devils before, with Chicago, winning twice and stopping 34 of 39 shots.
Adam Rotter: I have conflicting thoughts about Raanta starting tonight. One is, how do you take Raanta out after his previous two starts, especially after a shutout against Chicago? Another is, despite how he played on Thursday and Friday, is 3 starts in 4 nights too much or ideal for Raanta? It's hard to make a switch to Henrik after two straight wins from Raanta when he has done nothing but help the Rangers win two games. Henrik Lundqvist will get his job back at some point but with the way Raanta is playing it makes sense to ride the hot hand for a little while.
From Lundqvist's point of view, it's more time that he can work on his game. He had Friday's morning skate to work, yesterday was an off day and today is another day of practice.
